Sammie

Sweet Sammie is a big girl, about 70 pounds – and pretty energetic for a 7-year-old. She’s a happy girl who seems to love all humans – old and young, small and tall.

She was an owner surrender to a shelter because her family could no longer properly care for her. It was obvious that the decision to surrender her was not an easy one; her human dad was quite distraught over having to leave her. Her sad story and her lovely personality, prompted a shelter volunteer to ask if she could be a Squad Dog. She is a great girl; so we obliged.

Sammie is beautiful but our pictures don’t show how pretty she really is. She’s house-trained, good with kids and seems fine with other dogs. Her passion is people of the human variety, though. You can tell she was a much loved family member. She would like to fill that role again in her new home. If you’re looking for a fun, cheerful, people-loving Lab who likes to be by your side, Sammie is your girl.

Foster Update:

Sammie may be 7-years-old but she does not know it! She acts like at 2-3 year old — full of energy, jumping around, surfing the counter, head in the trunk to see what might be there. 🙂 She’s very curious.

She’s a good watch dog. She’ll let you know if someone is milling around next door at odd hours. Her bark is loud so she would make someone think twice before entering your home.

She plays nicely with my neighbor’s older male Golden Retriever. She didn’t play with anyone at the dog park though – just checks things out. She’s good in the car – and jumps in when I open door – even if it’s not for her. She’s always ready to go. She loves her morning walks by the lake with my dog.

She’s a big girl. The Gentle Leader halter works well for her walks. She’s a good girl.
