Martini became homeless as a result of domestic abuse. Her female owner proactively took her to a vet and surrendered her to protect her. There was domestic violence in the home, and the woman feared her dog would become a victim of that violence. Giving up Martini was an act of love in this case. Once safe and hidden at the vet office, a local rescuer worked to find a rescue that could help her start her new life. Martini stayed at the vet’s office for several weeks… waiting. We heard her story and knew we could definitely find her the forever, safe, happy home she deserves.
We aren’t sure exactly what Martini experienced in her previous home, but she appears to harbor no ill effects. She is sweet, loving and well adjusted. She moved into her foster home with ease and enjoys playing with her two canine foster brothers. She didn’t show much interest in some cats she met briefly. She’s 18-months-old and should be around 65 pounds but sadly, she lost 12 pounds while in vet boarding, so she needs to get back up to a healthy weight. This is a great little girl – and it doesn’t hurt that she’s a real beauty too.
Foster Update 1:
Martini is a very sweet girl with a great personality. She gets along with both of my dogs and she loves men. She really loves cuddling up on the couch. She has been going to work with me and loves to go for rides. She loves being with the other dogs but is just fine during the day with me hanging out under my desk and going on long walks. She’s house-trained and she kennels up great – and sleeps through the night. I think she will get along with just about anyone and any dog.
Foster Update 2:
Martini (we’ve been calling her Tini) knows sit, wait and stay. She loves all dogs! Her favorite things are car rides, running and playing ball. She’s very animated – and makes us laugh all the time!
She sleeps through the night just fine and kennels up during the day. I have nothing but good things to say about her. She’s funny, loving, a cuddlier, super friendly, playful, active and easy going. She’s pretty perfect!
