Bella Mia

Bella Mia was owner surrendered to a local shelter along with the rest of her family – two other dogs. Their owner moved out of state and didn’t take the dogs with him. We don’t know the circumstances, but he was very upset about having to leave his dogs at animal control. All three dogs waited for weeks for someone to rescue or adopt them. Then within a day, Bella’s siblings were adopted. That left Bella sitting alone in the shelter — wondering what happened to her entire family — and her world. We couldn’t bear to leave her there, so she became a Squad Dog.

Bella is a large, beautiful, sweet Lab mix. She’s very overweight at 115 pounds… but she’s a big girl, none-the-less. She’s calm, easy, friendly to everyone – and she loves affection. She’s 8-years-old and house-trained. Bella loves everyone she meets; she’ll make a great family member and companion.

Foster Update:

Our Bella Mia is all about the creature comforts of life, most specifically — air conditioning. She’s not a fan of the hot Atlanta weather and will quickly come back inside after taking care of business. If you’re not paying attention, she’ll do a little dance, lifting her two front feet off the ground, just before letting out one big bark to let you know she’s waiting at the door to come inside.

Don’t get us wrong, Bella can move when she’s motivated. In fact, she’s quick to jump into the car whenever there’s an opportunity for a ride. She’s very agile for a bigger-boned girl and is working to lose some more lbs. We’re proud to report she lost 3 pounds in five days last week. And we have high hopes for her as she embarks on the famous green bean diet.

A few other things on Bella’s top ten favorites list (besides air conditioning) are: having her derriere scratched, laying in her comfy dog bed, looking out the front window with her foster brother Jake, laying on the cool hardwood floor, welcoming family members and visitors with her vocal talents, and just being with her people. We think you’ll agree, it doesn’t take a lot to keep Bella happy or entertained. She’s a go-along to get along kinda gal with one exception. She’s not a fan of the paparazzi. Jake has convinced her that the camera will steal her soul. After much coaxing, she finally relented, allowing us to share her beautiful Labby face in a few photos.
