What Are Referral Dogs?
Referral dogs are dogs from local area animal shelters or Atlanta Dog Squad Approved Partners.
Check here if you don’t see the dog for you in our
Available Dogs
section.
Our goal first and foremost is to give retrievers another chance – so please take a look at the referral dogs ready for a forever home.

Referred Dogs for Adoption:
The dogs listed on this page are not Atlanta Dog Squad retrievers and we did not write the dogs’ bios and descriptions. Adoption Tips:
When adopting any dog, be informed and ask questions about the dog's health status. Ask for verification of vaccination and heartworm preventative. Reputable rescue organizations will provide this information. Be aware of temperament, ask questions to ensure the dog will fit into your family’s lifestyle and make sure you get a written adoption agreement.

Meet Corty
Corty was born Sept 2009. It is a guess that she is made up of labrador, pointer and something else. She is up-to-date on her shots, is spayed and micro-chipped, and house-trained.
This long-legged pup weighs about 65 pounds. Corty is a medium energy dog, is very affectionate and good-natured. She loves chasing balls, although she isn't good about giving them up, a good game of tug-of-war, and chasing squirrels.
Corty is neither excessively timid or bold. She loves people, dogs and cats but her exhuberant greetings can get her in trouble. Her nickname is "Wiggles" as her whole body wiggles back and forth, bumping and weaving as she greets you.
Currently Corty is in puppy training class and is learning self-control in stimulating situations. The trainer is extremely pleased with Corty's progress. A fast learner, she sits, stays, downs, and is a pleasant walking partner.
She's walked at Kennesaw Mountain with another dog several times and has done very well around strangers and dogs. (She so badly wants to greet everyone!)
Although she knows her commands, being she's still a puppy, she can be a little hard-headed about obeying right away; a treat goes a long way in convincing her to comply.

Meet Stella
Stella is a fun-loving 3 year old female shepherd mix who is about 50 pounds.
She prefers to be inside rather than outside most of the time, but does enjoy going for walks, playing in the yard, and if you have a trampoline, she’ll play on that too!
Stella has been spayed, chipped, and is up to date on her shots. Stella is a sweetie who loves to be with her people and she would do best in a home with children.

Meet Bo
Bo is looking for love at the end of the rainbow! Bo is a handsome chocolate Lab mixed fellow with a short brown coat and gorgeous golden eyes. He was rescued as a newborn pup with his mother and sister from the Asheville Animal Shelter. He was born in March 2001 and has been waiting to be adopted ever since! Bo would make an excellent companion pet for another dog or a wonderful addition to any family.
His ideal home would be one where he had just a Mom or 2 and no Dad as he seems to avoid and be generally uninterested in men. We think this is due in large part to the fact that Bo's caregivers and volunteers at Friends Forever are primarily women and this is what he is most comfortable with.
Bo is gentle and well behaved. He does think that cats fall into the same category as squirrels and rabbits and should be "chased and caught" so he would be best suited in a home without them. Bo is neutered, current on his vaccinations, de-wormed and on heartworm prevention.
He is crate trained and rides well in the car. He also loves playing with his toys and other doggie friends. Bo would be thrilled to finally have a home of his own. He has been waiting his whole life for his big day!
