Foster - Adopted 9/22/07

It was meant to be...

I just wanted to update you on our amazing blessing, Foster. He was a great passenger on the long ride home to Raleigh Saturday! When we got home, we put his orthopedic bed right next to the couch and he immediately rolled on it to make it "his" place! He is the most loving, cuddly dog I've ever had! We have 2 nicknames for him already: Shadow (because he goes everywhere we do!) and Spooner (he'll lay down next to me immediately, curled up right next to me!).

There aren't too many times in my life when an event like this touches me to tears. I was a mess when I first saw him, overwhelmed with joy. We were anticipating his "arrival" for a whole week, anxious to have him in our lives. And when I finally saw him and his "old fella" face, I just burst into tears, crying like a baby, I couldn't even contain myself. He is just so amazing, such a true angel. And this whole connection was meant to be! When I think about how everything had to line up (you bringing him into your care, my Mom getting the e-mail, her sending it to me, and us being ready for a new dog but couldn't handle a puppy, etc.), it all just fell into place. Even having the house "inspector" be a former volunteer with you and her moving to Raleigh of all places - WOW!!!

I cannot thank you enough for such an amazing experience. We are so proud to have a dog so full of life at such an old age.

Cade - Adopted 9/22/07

Cade becomes the 7th member of a very happy family.

Hey Dog Squad,

Just thought I would update you know about Cade. We did make the turn around trip to adopt Cade as you probably already know. We were pretty sure that after only a few minutes with him, he was our guy.

Toni encouraged us to talk more with his foster family, which we did. They gave us lots of great information on Cade that is just what we have experienced.

The car trip home was fantastic- he put his head in our daughter’s lap the whole way & did not even flinch or smell her McDonald’s. He was a bit scared here at home the first 10-15 minutes, but then warmed up in no time running, fetching, & playing.

We got him a crate that is in our bedroom to sleep in while he gets adjusted. He has already been one 3 walks, is eating great, has not had any accidents & is going to the door to be let out. We are keeping a pretty regular schedule of taking him out every few hours. He is lovable, lays at your feet & follows you around. He is a delight- no begging or crying & only barking a few times with other dogs. He feels like he is one of the family & has been here much longer than 2 days. He slept 8 hours with no problem. We love him, my mom loves him, the kids love him & several neighbors have remarked on his good behavior.

We look forward to loving him all of his life!

Thanks for your help & guidance. Know that this one was a true match- even his tag # 444 are my favorite numbers- 4 & 44! He is a blessing!!! We appreciate all the ADS volunteers who devote their time, energy & devotion to dogs like Cade to partner with families like us. 6 people & 1 dog are very happy. I imagine whoever had to give him up is heartbroken because it must have been a hard thing to do.

Thanks again & we may give the ADS a visit when we come to Atlanta - I will also forward a pic with the whole family in the next few weeks.

Kate

Rebel (now Parker) - Adopted 9/13/2007

Parker Gets a Party

Parker is amazing. We are all madly in love with him. He is fitting in very well. The only question I have is when is his birthday? We like to celebrate their birthdays.

Thank you,

Theresa

Jeremiah (now Jake) - Adopted 9/9/2006

Jake finds his Family

We adopted Jake (aka Jeremiah) almost one year ago -- and couldn't be more pleased. He has adjusted well and is a sweet boy. He is still a little camera shy, but is starting to do well with people. Jake is very energetic and just loves to do stuff -- as long as it is with us!

Thanks,

Fred and Brenda Rehrig

Kelly and Family at the Beach

Dear Staff at Atlanta Dog Squad,

We are sharing pictures of Kelly (formerly known as Laney) spending time with us at the beach at the Outer Banks on the shallows on the bay side. She is a wonderful dog and as you can see we all had a great time.

Thanks,

Frank & Marna Lombardo & Kelly

Alfee (now Marley) - Adopted 5/14/2007

Marley's Fitness Program

"Alfee has been renamed Marley which he had no problem making the association with. He is doing great and is slowly getting in shape and dropping pounds from running/proper diet. We are super though; I couldn't be happier. He was absolutely no question the perfect companion for me. Our personalities are an exact fit."

Marley's Dad, Justin
